This is the third or fourth set of CDs I have gotten, of Pema Chodron either giving a lecture or audio book.While I think that a lot of what is presented is idealized (i.e. bearing witness to someone being abused and meditate rather than intervene), I have found that the more I listen (I usually will listen to one CD repeatedly for a week, while running errands etc in my car, before progressing to the next CD), little bit by little bit I find myself dipping into a lojong practice.I'm a skeptic (generally speaking) and view listening to this in much the same way I view eating chicken soup during flu season: it couldn't hurt. And in the Buddhist tradition of "take that which is useful and discard the rest," I am taking bits and pieces and applying it to my life.And of course, if you're a fan of Pema Chodron, you won't be disappointed. In these CDs she maintains the directness and good humor, for which she is known.

This set of CD's is a logical presentation of the Lojong teachings. But in Pema's style, it contains humor and an approach that western culture can follow. Even with 7 discs, she still had to skip some of the pithy sayings. However, her overview is clear.I found it easier to try putting the teachings here presented into daily practice if I had a corresponding book available. It just helps to have a written reference. There are many books out there, and Pema mentions 3 or 4 that she has found helpful. I used the ones by B. Alan Wallace and Norman Fischer.

This CD by Pema Chodron is amazing. It was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I got it. It is clear and practical explanation of the Lojong teachings.Get it. You won't regret it.

Listen to this a little at a time. It's a little choppy format. The editing is here and there but the points are made. It comes in seven discs.

Love it! I like Pema's experiences and stories about the teachings in her honest, humorous and compassionate lecture style. The small exercises are also very useful in daily life.

I was sadly disappointed. This type of book is right in my wheelhouse. The premise itself revolves around mysticism and some elements that alone stretch the imagination. That's not so bad...works of fiction, especially this genre do that, and I can buy into that. But by the final chapters of the book, some of the characters introduced just pushed the plot over the top. Specifically, the "monster" was too much to accept - it smacked of "everything but the kitchen sink". Also, the anti-climactic ending just seemed to drone on and on. I would give the first 3 parts of the book 4-5 stars, but the final part no more than 2.

I read Vigil - awesome; tried to get through Bestial - awful. I was a little leery that this one would be a repeat of the doldrums of Bestial - not so much. It had a little bit of everything - mystery, supernatural, historical fiction, suspense and just a tad of a love story angle. I found myself really wanting to get back to the book at any free moment. I'd attempt to put it away and it would throw me for a loop. Pretty excited to see what "Romanov" has to offer. I hope he continues to write like this.

Robert Masello is a master story teller. His books weaving history with mystery and the occult are superb. This is one of the best. He takes you on a tour of beautiful cities, different continents, and back and forth in time. You meet historical people engaged in intrigue, evil, and creativity along with fictional heroes and heroines whose feats rival their famous counterparts. If you love history, art, Italy and France, this book has it all.

I first got hooked on this author from the kindle unlimited booked Einstein prophecy. He builds a world steeped in reality, history and the fantasies of the past coming to life. Even as you read a fictional journey you learn many things of history. The characters are real and multifaceted. I have always loved mythology and this twist on Medusa combines the rich fabric of the greatest artistic period in history with Legends of Greek mythology. A wonderful read!

The Medusa Amulet was the first Masello book I've read, but it won't be the last.This was a very enjoyable book, with well developed characters and two interesting, intertwined story lines. Masello weaves together the present day story of David Franco, who is searching for a previously unknown work of art, the Medusa Amulet, created by renaissance artist Benvenuto Cellini. His motivation is both money and more importantly, a possible reprieve for his terminally ill sister. The book also traces the story of Cellini, how he created the amulet, and the amulets affect on his life and those closest to him. Obviously, much of the Cellini portion of the story is the authors creation, but enough is based in real history that the fiction becomes believable (mostly).All in all, a very good book...well worth the price and the time!!!

Great Book! Robert Masello has turned me into a historical fiction fan! This book the Jekyll Revelation, The Einstein prophecy and the Romanov Cross are all brilliant. And he creates new characters each time, much more difficult to do than having a reoccurring here or protagonist. Will be looking for new stuff from him.

This was the second book by this author that I've read. The first being The Einstein Theory. I found them to be interesting reading, but that they run on too long. Just when you think you 've reached a good ending place, another three or more chapters begin. They're fun reading and I will try another one.

David is going to try to do the impossible and without having all of the truth of the matter. As he races to find La Medusa, he encounters danger and incredible historical events become even more amazing than a sane person would believe. Very well written and will keep you up until you finish the book. I had to stop reading at two a.m. because I couldn't see the words well enough to continue. Enjoy.
