Another Good "Fancy Nancy", I wouldn't say the best. Both of my little girls adore Fancy Nancy, my youngest calls her Dancey Nancy because she loves her story with the tutus. This is a good book as to be expected. A little silly by some standards, but it keeps my girls attention, so that is all that matters. We will continue to purchase these types of books because my girls can relate to some of the activities in Fancy Nancy. I would say a good book overall.

We adore fancy Nancy! This is a great book and I got it at an excellent price! My 5 year old had followed in the footsteps of her three older sisters and is quite fond of reading fancy Nancy books. (Fond is a fancy word for liking something a lot). We even recently saw the musical!Here are photos of my real life fancy Nancy and her little sister ❤

Super cute book all about a birthday party for Fancy Nancy's dog. As always in Jane O'Connors books it has "fancy" words with the typical word used so my daughter can broaden her vocabulary. Quick read and my 3 year old loved it!

This is one of the Fancy Nancy that is based on Jane O'Connor's creation not actually written by her. I personally like the books she actaully writes a lot better. I found this story to be a little stupid, but my daughter likes it so that's all that matters.

Purchased for my grand-daughter who at 1-1/2 years old, already understands, loves and appreciates books. Hope she feels the same when she's old enough to read them herself in a few years.

My preschooler loves this book! If your child likes dogs and bling, this is the book for her. Lovely little story, entertained my child for hours on a road trip. Would buy again.

My daughter, Nancy, has long been a fan of the Fancy Nancy books. And so have I. Of course, there are so many titles now that it’s hard to keep up with them all. Also, like most extended series, they vary in quality, though you can always count on Fancy Nancy for a nice story and really enjoyable artwork. In fact, I don’t think the brilliance of Robin Preiss Glasser’s art towards the success of Fancy Nancy always gets the notice it deserves. (To be fair, Carolyn Bracken does the interior art for this book, though it is based on Ms. Glasser’s work.)This one, however, is one of my favorites of the recent titles. It’s not an earthshattering story but it is a fun one. Frenchy, Nancy’s dog, has a big birthday party with all the neighborhood dogs. As one might expect, “pandemonium”—that’s fancy for “all the dogs go wild”—ensues. It’s a really enjoyable tale that my daughter has no trouble reading on her own. That’s what I want from these books and O’Connor delivers with this one.

I love Fancy Nancy books and this one is adorable ... my granddaughter had a "puppy party" so this was the perfect gift. She loves reading this and the story is charming.

I enjoy these stories about Kate and the things she gets into. Yes, she is a girlie girl, but she gets the job done and looks good doing it. I find these stories humorous and lighthearted.

I enjoyed this collection a lot. I liked the main character, Kate & looked forward to watching her solve the mystery. It has plenty of humor and mystery. I recommend it to cozy mystery lovers!

Hilarious read and well written. You get 5 stories, each funny and laugh out loud mysteries. Kept my husband awake. Definitely enjoy reading everything by this author!

Deadly Mix is the book that houses all of the books in the series. In other words, it is the Box Set without saying “A Kate Mackenzie Cozy Mystery Short Stories” Box Set. I am so glad that I decided to read Deadly Mix versus each book individually since the author writes “Short Stories”. The short story format is very conducive to reading Deadly Mix as one book. I thought of each book as a large chapter of a continuous story. The structure and the characters were the same from book to book, with the venue and the plot changing. For consistency, there is a thread from one book or “chapter” to the next, that ties together the interactions between the main character and the other characters and the characters between each other and as a group. This makes the important nugget easier to spot when reading Deadly Mix because you tend to find many more nuances. Furthermore, the culmination of Deadly Mix becomes more poignant with a “whodunit’s’” finale and you “the reader” were there from page one. I commend the author on his writing format. The writing format really works to make this book a page-turner – especially because you can see the end is not far off. Warning, the main character is quite feisty so there is laughter and humor in the book, which is always nice.RECOMMENDATION: Buy the book. Find a comfy chair and settle in, you will enjoy reading Deadly Mix. –Tex. Deadly Mix: A Kate Mackenzie Cozy Mystery - The Complete Short Stories Collection (Bakery Detectives Mystery Series Book 6)

Kate Mackenzie is so sassy and fun, I love her! And these are great beach reads.....my favorite author for when I'm relaxing. Definitely recommend.

This is a set of very short stories, which read more like story outlines, than actual stories. The main characters are not at all likable, and Kate's interaction with the police is a joke, as are the police characters (see spoiler alert below) There are a great many errors in all of the stories, including missing words, extra words and changed character names. I still don't know if the assistant's name is Selina or Serina, the two seem to be interchangeable. A good editor would make these much more readable, even if the plot is lacking. Certainly not the best cozy mystery set out there, but if you can get past all of the editing errors, its a good beach read or something to waste time in a waiting room, especially for 99 cents.Spoiler Alert: Kate walks around in the crime scenes taking evidence from every one of them, including murder weapons. The police never mention it. They also ask her to solve the crimes for them. Seems to be a little covert police bashing going on.

I love cozy mysteries and I enjoy CT's style. For short stories they were very entertaining. Who says you can't look good while solving crimes.

These stories are entertaining, enjoyable, and clean. I loved them! I found them quite easy to read and follow. A great read, esp for someone who doesn't like to spend hours on one book - each story is easily read in an hour.

Love this bible perfect for 9 yr olds and younger. If your son is a bookworm like mine he'll finish it in 2 days

As others have stated the illustrations in this children's Bible are very well done.. also the wording is done in a way so as to be easy for children to understand and yet doesn't take anything away from the actual meaning, which is important. Each two pages open to fully illustrate main events and lessons in the Bible. We have an 8 and 5 year old so this works in that one is reading now and the other listens but looks on. My main reason for reviewing was to add a few images of the inside of the book, as I went on reviews alone without seeing the inside.. and would have appreciated being able to look inside to see for myself. I picked random pages.

This Bible has the most beautiful illustrations I have ever seen for a children's Bible! The artwork fills the entire page and is more on the realistic side but with the quality of a children's movie (if that makes any sense). I can't speak highly enough of the illustrations. Each and every spread is worthy to be art that I would hang on display in my home. There is a two-page illustrated spread for each story, with text on one or both pages. This Bible is more detailed than others I have seen, but at the same time, it's not overly detailed so as to lose interest. It is organized into old and new testament and the Bible verses are referenced. OT sections include the creation, the patriarchs, Moses and the exodus, the rise of Israel, Psalms and Proverbs. NT sections include the gospels, the early church, the epistles, prophecy. I would guess that the reading level is around that of an 8 to 10-year-old, but that is just a guess. This may not hold the attention of young children, but would work great as a second Bible after the preschool phase. The text may be a little tough for a kindergartener to understand, but I think they would love the illustrations, and with the parents providing supplemental explanation, I think it would work great starting around that age or a little later. I would guess it's best geared towards 2nd through 6th grades, but to be honest, my husband and I are enjoying reading it as adults. I am so excited to add this to our collection. Highly recommend!!!

While reading this to my daughter, I found numerous inaccuracies. Not at all a matter of interpretation, but literal fact changing.This text is a misrepresentation of the Bible.

I thought this book was really promising, especially with all of the great reviews. When I got the book and read that she called Eve, Adam's "special friend". J was very disappointed but I just told my daughter she was his wife and moved on. Then it came to the part where Cain killed Able and it was very honest about that but then it watered down something else. I think calling Eve Adam's "special friend" and then say they had a son was ridiculous. What is wrong with us as Christians that we are so offended by things God created. No one can talk about sex or even a wife. It is just ridiculous. I thought about just writing my own thing and taping it over her words but my husband told me that was probably illegal. I just don't want a watered down version. Lying is not leading, it is misleading.

This bible has well told stories that are engaging and easy to understand for kids; however, it seems like they didn't do a great job at proofing. We have encountered several grammatical errors, which can be annoying.I have attached a photo as an example. I would give it 5 stars if it didn't have typos.

This Bible is absolutely the best storybook Bible that there is to buy! I've been searching for a great storybook Bible for our kids; something that would be real enough, fun enough, accurate enough and engaging enough - not an easy task to be met all in one book :-) And I've found it right here! It arrived today, and my kids don't even want to eat. They are sitting around that book, reading story after story, absolutely amazed by both the pictures and the stories. They even love the titles of the stories, which I agree are written in an interesting and eye-catching way! As a parent, I appreciate the factual way the stories are told and the length of each one. It is not too short for my 9yo, nor too long or complicated for my 6&7yos to read and understand. We have quite a few storybook Bibles, and I must say I came to expect a bit more from children's Bible than cute, silly, cartoon-like illustrations and poetic, quite adapted (even modified, one could say) stories. I'm not a fan of Jesus Storybook Bible at all. So if you're not, either, buy this one. It will blow you away!Btw, I really enjoy reading the stories, myself! Amazing family Bible... I can imagine this one being read as a daily family devotion, too...Thought I'd add some more images. These are some of our favorites, both my kids' and mine:-)

Bad translation! It's a very beautiful picture book but the translation is really bad. In psalm 22 they say clawing at His hands and feet and not pierced. There are many mistakes that is one example.

Please fix this damaged digital edition which is currently unreadable. The Eddings are among my favorite authors and this is a butchery of their work.

David Edding's 'Rivan Codex' is not quite the page turner that his books 'The Belgariad', 'The Mallorean'. 'Belgarath the Sorcerer' and 'Polgara the Sorceress' are, but it gives readers of those books some insight into what went into the writing of those. It has information on the fictional cultures of the Alorns and other races of the books and their counterparts in our world, and a lot of other background material that helped him and his wife in the creation of the twelve book series. It is a wonderful companion volume to the other books.

David and Leigh Eddings are two of my favorite authors. I find myself coming back again and again reading the book they right. I am still disappointed that not all of their work has been released on Kindle. I do believe I will just have to be patient. Please Hurray Up and get the older material on Kindle. I find it odd that if you live outside the United States you can purchase the books on Kindle.

Notice the third item in the title is said between coughs.Overall:Interesting to see the background. Seeing his initial story and realizing he started off only a step or two above where I'm at ( the Belgarath story was very cheesy, he also neglects to mention, when he talks about maps, that he did not have a map at that time else he wouldn't have the 'thousand leagues' stuff which he comments on ). In other words, it gave me some perspective.Pros:-Will allow you to weigh yourself as a writer against the beginning David & Leigh Eddings-Gives you some, albeit dated, perspective into the publishing process.-Gently reminds you that David Eddings was a pervert. ( Note: The 'gently' is a lie. )-Gives you perspective between Eddings' level of skill starting on the Belgariad and starting on the Mallorean.-Has good miscellaneous information for budding writers.-Gives you some information on where Eddings got some of his characters...but not much. *SIGH*Cons:-When was this written? Before or after the LotR movies? Eddings' derision of Tolkien, while sort of his right, is sort of uhm...stupid. I doubt anyone is going to make movies out of his books. Tolkien has him soundly beat.-Lots of ego. Sort of what you'd expect from a multi-millionaire old man who isn't going to lose anything.-It isn't really interesting if you're looking solely for insight into his world.-Character creation and personality creation are not covered. Polgara and Belgarath are HUGE personalities and got their own books ( retroactively, I might add, which makes them fairly useless as to seeing what made this happen. "Polgara the Sorceress" is particularly awesome though ), Garion's obvious enough ( blank slate ) but Silk is a character I wanted some "Okay, it was my uncle blargh's tendancy to sneeze every time he lied that gave Silk his nose twitch, but it was my observation of a guy selling a vacuum cleaner to my grandma that gave me his other traits. That guy grew to be a family friend and I got to know him well" from him.-Map creation/ideas are not covered thoroughly.Final judgment:It needs about 250 pages written specifically about characters in his world and their peculiarities. Geography is easy enough to figure out, but knowing what to look for in others to make characters, how to synthesize human traits into new, believable characters, that's a skill that's missing from this.You'll, because of his lack of talking about how he planned his nations ( barring "North: Vikings, South: Romans, Further south: Reptile people, et cetera ), miss out on his geographical decisions. However one can see some symbolism ( intentional or not ) in his placement of his nations.All in all, this book is a book about how he wrote the books. It's useful information and a great gauge for beginning writers to compare themselves to. Being able to say "Hey, he sucked as bad as I do, there's still hope!" should be inspirational to someone. Of course, a reader who says this could suffer from the same self-congratulatory, egotistical syndrome he had when he wrote this.Recommendation:Read the Belgariad and Mallorean in that order. Then read this, then read Polgara the Sorceress and Belgarath the Sorcerer in that order ( the contrast in skill is useful, as is the slow realization that his wife was mostly responsible for Polgara the Sorceress ), then read the Belgariad and Mallorean again. Coming in with all of that new information, you'll get the most you can out of it.Also, aspiring writers, remember to read recently published books. Preferably out of your own genre ( to prevent contamination, or so they say, I ignore this and read whatever I want ). I came into reading this all with my own ideas already formed, realized I was on a good track, and kept on trucking.( Sans one star due to ego )

This was a fun read for anyone who has enjoyed the Belgariad/Mallorian. A brief retelling of a 10 volume masterwork. And a glimpse into the preparation for that epic story.

Enjoyed rereading and reviewing a story that I read way too many years ago. Great intro to the genre for the young & fun read for those of us getting old.

One of my favorite epic fantasy stories. David Eddings has made a world of characters that you might just recognize in people around you. Sure the is magick involved and gods and the struggle between good and evil, but I love the humanness of the characters Mr. Eddings has created. One of my favorite characters is Garion, an honest, earnest,intelligent, yet naive young man that reminds me of myself.

It is an extroidinary thing to to take a peek at how David Eddings came up with his epic series.
