N. Gregory Mankiw is Robert M. Beren Professor of Economics at Harvard University. He studied economics at Princeton University and MIT. Dr. Mankiw is a prolific writer and a regular participant in academic and policy debates. His research includes work on price adjustment, consumer behavior, financial markets, monetary and fiscal policy, and economic growth. Chances are you are buying this book because you're taking the microeconomics class online. Because there's like the 10th or 11th edition available now and probably taught in colleges across America. What did they change between the 5th and 10th or 11th edition, you ask? Who knows. I'm positive the publishers don't. They're too busy counting their millions, lighting their cigars with $100 bills and throwing kittens out of 40-story tall buildings and making children cry to drink their tears. So you're buying this extremely old edition probably because you're taking the class online or at a community college. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. This edition is just as or better than future editions. Trust me, I've looked. And I was the poor schmuck duped into buying the latest edition because my professor had it as "required" reading. We didn't even touch the book and went off his lectures anyhow. I dropped the class and took it online so I could actually learn about real microeconomics instead of the murky mindlessness of a quack teacher. This is a great book. Just don't overpay for it. Let's not get crazy. There's newer editions out there so don't pay a premium for this one.

This is one of the best textbooks I've had the pleasure of reading. The first thing that makes this book good is that the author does not fill the pages with meaningless jargon and unnecessary filler. He often dives right into the topic or sets it up by telling a short story that is relevant to the topic. Any kind of mathy topic is written in an easy to understand step by step process. He also provides graphs on many of these topics so you can clearly see what he is talking about, these graphs are accompanied with a short summary containing the important concepts. The author keeps chapters relatively short, though there are 1 or 2 longer ones towards the end. Chapters only take about 25-35 minutes to read on average. This makes them very tolerable to read and makes it much easier to retain important information. Unlike some textbooks where you spend over an hour on a chapter and then can't remember a thing you read, I actually felt like I learned a lot when I read a chapter in this book. The brevity of the chapters also kept me from occasionally looking to see how many more pages I had to go. I also enjoy the writing style of the author. The lack of jargon kept me from losing focus midway through a paragraph or forgetting something I just read. Topics tend to flow smoothly between one another and he often includes both sides of the debate on certain topics. He occasionally goes into real life scenarios that allow you to easily see the importance of the issue and the results of various real-life economic policies. Each chapter also usually has 2 or 3 funny comics or captioned pictures throughout them that are relevant to the topic being discussed. This book will clear up any confusion you have on a topic that your professor may not have explained the best. This is one of the few textbooks that I actually enjoyed reading through. I wish every textbook was this well written and informative.

Buy an earlier edition! This is literally the same thing as Macro by Mankiw 3rd - 6th edition. Way too expensive.

No need for hard cover text. You're literally paying 4 to 5x the amount to just have the pages boned together. When they say looseleaf they don't mean flimsy pages this is text book pages with a cover and outer page with 3 ring binder holes. I had a 2in binder and placed the pages in there and it worked perfectly. I saved so much money and it's brand new in plastic wrap so no one ever owned it before. I wish all my text books were like this!

I am currently a PhD student in Econ/Operations Research. I read this book (page by page) when I was 17. This (and the principles of Microeconomics also by Mankiw, but they are very similar) is my favorite undergraduate introductory economics textbook. Note that this book will not contain any heavy (or even medium load) math. Its a very elementary book, but it hits the important topics on what the field is all about. In fact, I still keep a copy with me (although I have not opened it in a long time). I would say this book really opened my interest (and perhaps my introductory understanding) to the field of economics.Verdict: Highly recommended buy!

I needed this for my Microeconomics class, the font was a good size and it was easy to read. The book provides many helpful graphs that make understanding the concepts easier.

The content of the book is very well done. The concepts are easy to understand and each chapter builds knowledge towards a very good understanding of the principles of microeconomics. There is of course much discussion and examples of demand and supply curves. I think the math behind these curves is important and unfortunately the book stays high level and doesn't provide more in-depth examples or tutorials on how to calculate curves, deadweight loss and other important concepts.

This book was a requirement for my intro level microeconomics course. I would like to being by saying that this book is an incredibly easy read. It isn't extremely boring and dry and it isn't extremely fun with little important information. It contains all of the relevant information. The way the book delivers the information is astounding. You read through a block of text and then the book displays graphical examples with captions below to help interpret the graph. The online homework that I had to do along with the book made retaining the important information extremely easy. Economics comes relatively easy to me, but the addition of this great textbook made getting an A almost too easy. I didn't even show up to lecture about one third of the time because Dr. Mankiw does such a well job of explaining the material.Pros:Easy ReadDistilled Useful InformationGraphical Representation of ContentCons:NothingI would highly recommend this textbook. It is probably the most efficient and useful text for learning introductory microeconomics.

If you don’t have the first book- just buy this one. It’s got all of the recipes (I’m pretty sure at least) from the first book plus lots of new ones and the formatting is majorly improved.

Our families enjoys preparing these meals together. Because the family favorite meals taste so go, we are willing to try new recipes from this book with great anticipation.

I read this book over a month ago and waited to post a review until after I had prepared and served some of the freezer meal recipes. I have to say that not only was shopping easier but also having frozen, prepared meals made dinner time so much less stressful after a long day. There are times when my inner Top Chef takes over the kitchen and there are times when I just want to cook with easy to obtain items that provide flavorful meal options. I’ve tried five recipes- Chicken-Broccoli Bake, Sun-Dried Pesto Chicken, Beef and Bow Tie Soup, Basil-Balsamic Chops and even a breakfast recipe- Breakfast Burritos.The meal preparation was easy and straightforward and even better, they all tasted good! There are so many more recipes that I plan to try and I am looking forward to working my way through them all. A real time saver and the only thing I would have personally liked would have been a picture of each recipe. There were quite a few pictures, but for me, I am a very visual person who just likes to see the finished recipe before I begin. I am sure the page count and production costs came into play and the many pictures that are included all look yummy. Gershon J. Shugar is the author of The Chemist’s Ready Reference Handbook, also published by McGraw-Hill, and professor emeritus of engineering technologies at Essex County College, Newark, New Jersey. In 1947, Dr. Shugar founded a chemical manufacturing business that became the largest exclusive pearlescent pigment manufacturing company in the United States. I recently purchased this textbook to serve as a refresher for undergraduate analytical chemistry and to supplement my job specific training as a chemical technician. The text covers a wide variety of topics and includes some material not normally covered in undergraduate analytical coursework. Overall, this text is a useful resource; however, there are some issues that should have been resolved by now, considering this text is in its fifth edition of print. After reading through two chapters, here are the errors that standout to me: (1) There are many grammatical errors and sentence structure mistakes. (2) Some common cations in the "Inorganic Chemistry Review" are named incorrectly, and (3) There are also some mislabeled cyclic hydrocarbons in the "Organic Chemistry Review" chapter.I have only read through two chapters of this text thus far. Assuming there are no fundamental theory inaccuracies, I would still recommend this book to anyone who plans to work in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries. The topics covered in the first 8 chapters of this book are not generally covered in undergraduate coursework, or are often covered with minimal application. Although this training is typically provided by your employer, exposure to this material would serve as an advantage, especially in today's ever changing and competitive market.

This is a must have book for a quick reference in a laboratory of Chemistry. It explains in detail techniques very important to carry out, classification of chemicals, I just can not make do without it. Work in a laboratory of Chemistry, especially in high school level and upper, implies the use of a variety of equipments. This book makes it easy!

Great reference of a general industrial laboratory. Easy to use and provides a good 'refresher' for general chemistry information. Ready reference is a good description!

It is a basic handbook for Technicians there some interesting tidbits and tables but not enough details oriented for my personal/research use in GC/MS Referencing or solvent compatibilities. Needs up to date reference tables for water, waste water pollution sampling and preservation techniques.

Contains a lot of good practical information and a good addition to any chemistry library. Not perfect however, some information is incomplete or a little dated. Calomel reference electrodes are mentioned but not Ag/AgCl for example.

A safety & good lab practice guidebook that all laboratories should have. Content on Technical skills & good housekeeping are invaluable.

I hate to upset fans of Me Before You (hell, I'm a huge fan of Me Before You), but this was a very underwhelming sequel. I think if you are expecting the emotional punch of the first book you are going to be sorely disappointed.I'm not ashamed to say that Me Before You had me up reading until very late at night and then crying my eyes out until very early the next morning. It was the kind of book that sticks with you, the kind of book that is extremely hard to follow up. It ended on a very powerful note, so any book that calls itself a "sequel" has to match that kind of power. This didn't, not even close.We follow Lou's life a year and a half after the death of Will, and we see what her life has become. Honestly, I didn't enjoy this Lou very much. Gone is any spark, any vitality, any humor, and without those aspects of her personality I had trouble staying engaged with her. I didn't like this pushover Lou, and I barely recognized her from the previous book.Her life is wholly depressing. Lou is stuck completely in this sort of limbo, and reading about her mostly boring day to day things felt one note and tedious. Lou's family details, like her mother's newfound feminism and her sister's meddling, seemed contrived and almost silly. I didn't get what those side plots added to the story, and I didn't find them compelling.Lou's love interest was just... there. He was sexy in a classic romance way- the patient, motorcycle-riding savior- but I simply didn't feel the chemistry between him and Lou. It felt like a relationship without weight, certainly without the intensity of Lou's relationship with Will. If you are going to present a love interest to follow the one from Me Before You, it would have to be absolutely epic... this wasn't.And don't get me started on Lily. No spoilers from me, but Lily just irritated me to no end. She was SO selfish, and I struggled to feel much sympathy for her rich girl plight. I know the author tried to give us reasons to empathize with Lily, especially near the end with her convoluted backstory, but I was rooting for Lou to branch out and have more of the story-line to herself.However, this book's greatest crime, IMO, was that it was boring. I kept putting this book down and starting other stories, only to force myself back to this one after a few hours. And though this book has brief moments of greatness, and it wasn't bad or offensive in any way, it also failed to grab me the way I was expecting it to. After You by Jojo Moyes is the second book in her series, Me Before You . This is the story of Louisa Clark and her life AFTER Will Traynor. It is refreshingly nowhere near as heartbreaking as as it's predecessor, Me Before You, and picks up after Lou's time in Paris AFTER Switzerland and (view spoiler).The book quite literally begins with a bang (or crash?) with Louisa taking a bad fall and being collected by the paramedics. Intense and sad when we see just how (view spoiler). Once she is out of the hospital her parents insist she go to a support group for grieving people and she reluctantly agrees. Then, a teenager named Lily shows up on her doorstep with a surprising revelation and Louisa's life is embroiled in Lily's teenage drama. Then, she meets the paramedic that helped piece her back together after her fall and finds him just as wonderful as he was the night he saved her. Things are slowly turning around for Lou and she doesn't feel like she is letting Will down as much. But this is just the calm before the storm and while she tries to move on with Sam, can he deal with hr still painfully mourning Will? Can Lily ever get ehr head around her family issues and can Lou help her or is she just a punching bag for this hormonal teen with, rightly so, abandonment issues.People looking for another heartbreak like Me Before You will be sorely disappointed. This is Lou's life moving on from that epic romance/tragedy. Why anyone would want to put her through something like losing Will a second time is beyond me. The story is intriguing and entertaining and no less Louisa Clark than the first book but it is MUCH more lighthearted (in comparison). Up next, Still Me. Enjoy!

I loved this book just as much as I loved the first one "Me Before You". This is Louisa's life after Will and I thought it was very true to her character, especially in how long it takes her to finally move on with her life. She is lost without him and it shows in her choices of job, clothing, recreation. When life keeps trying to get her to move on, she fights it as hard as she can as she doesn't want to have a fulfilling life without Will.I hope there is another Louisa novel in the works as I've grown quite attached to her.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!I absolutely ADORE Me Before You, it is one of my favorite books of all time. I pre-ordered this book months ago, and I ended up staying up until 3 am reading it. I don't know exactly how to express my feelings about this book. For starters, I didn't care for the character of Lily. I think understand what the author was doing, by making Lily Will's long, lost daughter; it allowed Lou to have interaction with Will's family, and allowed Moyes a follow up with them that would have otherwise been unlikely to happen in Lou's new life. I really think the book would have been better by leaving that character out completely. I wanted this to be Lou's story of how she moved on and found her "happily ever after," and this just didn't feel that way for me. I also thought the bits about Lou's mom turning into a raging feminist, while amusing, was a little off course. I wanted Lou and Sam to have the happy ending that she and Will didn't get to, and instead it ends with her leaving him behind to fly away (to NYC) to be yet another caretaker for someone. I hardly think being the nanny/companion/personal assistant to a depressed person is hardly the life Will wanted for her, even if it is in New York. I wanted more for Lou than what I felt like she (and I) got. I wanted her to have her "happily ever after."For what it's worth, I'd really like to see a book exploring what life would have been like for Will and Lou if he had decided NOT to end his life.....but that may be too time travel/sci-fi/time lord for most of Moyes readers.
