I miss the days when you get the Pokedex included with the guide; it made things a lot easier. Other than that, a very comprehensive guide that provides you with every little detail you might possibly need in order to explore every nook and cranny of the game! My wife loves to follow along with the guide, whereas I basically just follow the game's dialog to figure out where I need to go. That being said, I miss out on a lot of beneficial trades and items. I like to look at the guide after I've acquired a certain move so I know where I can re-visit to further my progress.
This is a complete walk through of the game for both editions, Sun and Moon. It tells you all the basics of who you will be battling, what Pokemon you will face & what they are weak against. It tells you where to find hidden items, Zygard pieces. It has complete maps, tells you which Pokemon are specific to each version of the game, how the game will vary based on the starter you chose.My son and I are playing this together. He is 12 and a Pokemon expert. I’m an adult and have only played Pokemon Omega Ruby prior to this game. We both refer to this book. I ended up buying two copies so that we can each have one. I’m obviously looking up basic things like what is strong against dark, but my son is looking up things on a regular basis too.For instance it provides Zygard core and cell locations which if you missed a few is quite helpful.This is a well illustrated, laid out and written guide. If you log any time in this game you will find it valuable. I’m so happy I preordered it.
This book has some good information, but could give more information on when pokemon level into the next phase and how. It includes endgame content, but advertises that the pokedex book coming out also has end game content? Seems silly to have two books when you could make a comprehensive book instead.If I had to give it's most positive point credit, it would be that it is most useful for endgame content. Most everything else can be figured out by yourself.
If you ever used the previous guides, such as the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire guide, this one isn't too different. It has full maps showing the locations of visible and hidden items, as well as a step-by-step guide for the main game. Unlike the previous guide though, the post-game is absent and reserved for the upcoming Pokédex guide, which is a little disappointing. But overall, it's a pretty thorough and decent guide. Don't expect any exact percentages and statistics catered towards hardcore gamers.
I have not finished the game yet, but am fairly happy with the guide with some reservations. When you buy this, understand that it is just a walk through of the main story line, it does not contain anything post-game and it does not contain the Pokedex entries. What it does contain are maps of each area, item locations (including hidden items), trainer encounters (lists of Pokemon/levels for normal random trainers, and detailed information for main story line battles). It also includes basic information on how to play, and some side game data that you encounter on the way. I've included a few pictures to give you an idea of what's in the guide and how the information is presented. These are all pictures of the start of the game as not to spoil anything.I docked 2 stars because as usual they are making you buy the Pokedex separate and that is just double dipping. By the time that book is out (January) you can just Google all of it and it's completely useless.
So much useless info. So much info left out (so they can sell other guides, like the Pokedex). It's really disappointing to see what these guides have become. The guides for games a decade ago were clear, concise, and thorough. What happened? This book has a terrible format.
This book is huuuuge! Gives so much information, the quality of the pictures is amazing. Bought it for my niece who loves Pokemon and just started playing the games. She asks me questions all the time now she can just refer to the strategy guide if I'm not around.
I just wish they used a higher quality paper. This is super thin like newspaper and the pages have already been torn after looking through it just a couple of times. A children's book should be printed on some decent paper.
Overall good, lack of post game help was disappointing but they saved it for the pokedex guide. Also the alola pokedex at the end of the strategy guide used in game asset screen shots and not art which was something that personally bothered me, because always like the art. I recommend it when on sale.
