I'd never been to the Keys and we used this as our travel guide in addition to Yelp reviews. My primary complaint about the Keys is that what they call "beaches" may be rocky, hard, and full of underwater growth. We visited a number of Key "beaches" and never found one anywhere near as good as those in Southern California. However, the ocean water in Florida is much warmer, which is nice.

Fodor's guides are very reliable for the causal tourist who isn't too adventurous, but still offers valuable information on a very easy to use format. Recommended!

Just went to Keys for a week, this guide helped a lot. contains much info without having to look stuff up online all the time

I was hoping for more from this book. As a mother of four kids, ages 6-10 months, who homeschools, is Catholic and has always taught (either part-time or full-time) in addition to “momming” - I thought Jennifer and I would have a lot in common. In a nutshell, Jennifer is writing a book about how she wrote a book while she had babies very quickly. While I am 100% in favor of moms taking care of themselves and having interests outside of diaper changing (we would all go crazy if we didn’t) - I think two things are left out of Jennifer’s message: 1. This needs to be done in a way that ENHANCES your ability to “mom” rather than making it more difficult. 2. If you choose to put your dreams on the backburner in order to serve and sacrifice for your family - that is a BEAUTIFUL thing. No mom who is JUST a stay-at-home mom should ever be made to feel that what she’s doing is less than what her working mom friends are doing. The entire world is telling stay-at-home moms that they’re kind of pathetic for JUST raising their kids. I was hoping for a better message from a fellow Catholic mom.

I read this in 2 days (and nights) laughing and crying. I re-read parts to my husband, and laughed and cried. Many of the chapters we could relate to on a very personal level.Jen Fulwiler has been one of my favorite people for a long time, although I have never met her. I listen to her show on the Catholic Channel as I drive in the afternoon. She is like an old friend you can share anything and everything with.Love you Jen! Thanks for showing me life with lots of children and a messy house CAN be fun! 😇😘

This book came into my hands through a recommendation from a dear friend who has spoken God's truth into my life in so many ways. She sent me the daily devotional from Ann Voscamp in which Jennifer shares the wonder God can work when we stop trying to be so strong. I bought the book and started reading. I'm eight months pregnant and I skipped out on my chance at nap for a few days to keep reading. Jennifer shares her stories so directly, leaving me with belly laughs and eyes brimming with tears at her honesty. She refuses to tie bows around the hardships she's faced, the insensitivities of others, the moments she is humbled and corrected, and the sheer pandemonium of being a mother with young children trying to get anything done. As I was reading, I kept thinking - I should put this down a bit and go clean the kitchen or rest a bit, but I had this sense that I should keep reading... that there was some message in there for me. In the passage where Jennifer describes the "blue flame" and the diverse ways God has designed each woman to come alive for a unique gift or passion, I got it. I burst into tears as a whole section of my life (before kids) came into focus in a new way and resolved a tension I had felt for a long while. It gave me a sense of peace and reinvigorated purpose for the work I do as a mother and the way that I love my children. This is a book for moms who dream big dreams, but need a pep talk to get them going. Thank you for writing this, Jennifer. I'll be passing this title along to so many of my friends.

Hoping for a book about encouraging moms who have or are planning to grow a large family. Could barely get past the first pages .... forced myself to finish the first chapter. Just a rant of how hard having a many children can be at a grocery store.... I am pregnant with baby #4 with children under the age of 5. I know it's hard getting to the store but never this hard as this author puts it.... you feel bad for the author and it's just not what I wanted to read. I know there are other good large family books that share positiveness and joy.

I am troubled by how little the author says about the importance of family and the value of a mother who stays home. The book contains lots of funny stories about how she gets other people to watch her kids so she can finally write. You could easily walk away from this book thinking mothers will be happier if they go out and get paid jobs than if they stay home. The author has 6 kids, so that's obviously not an option since the cost of child care would exceed her salary. But I think that's a reasonable takeaway for some women reading this book. I don't think that is what the author actually believes so I wish she'd talked more about the value of her work in the home and how her writing helped her be a better mother. Stay at home moms are looked down upon in our society and I don't think this book does anything to challenge that perception.

Packed with wit, this book is an easy and enjoyable read even for someone without kids (ie, me). The humor in this book (sparkling) is why I’ll be buying it for my girlfriends. The poignant insights on love of everyone (including children but not at the expense of the rest of the world and ourselves) is why I’ll be buying this for my sisters with families. I devoured the book in two sittings.

Truly Jen. (I hope I can call you that now.) This book has rocked me to my soul. Fear. Resistance. Demons....whatever you call it is so real. I am SO glad I’m not alone in how I feel. I remember when I was telling someone that the first four weeks of being a new mom were the most humbling & miserable of my life....& my step mother said how I should be ashamed that having a new baby is a blessing...etc. I felt so much guilt over that (and have for years). Like I’m not allowed to be miserable AND feel blessed...so thank you.

Dr. Vasant Lad is an Ayurvedic physician who received the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, (B.M.A.S.) from the University of Pune, in Pune, India in 1968 and the Master of Ayurvedic Science (M.A.Sc.) from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in Pune, India in 1980. For 3 years he served as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune, India. Very well organized and written.

Bought all three volumes - I am amazed at the wisdom in these books. Much of this is forgotten in today’s medicine and most of it is beyond western medicines scope of knowledge. Every doctor today should have these books. If you are an “incurable” or are tired of prescription drugs - you must read these books!

This book is really good. It is written very artistically and it takes the boredom out of textbooks and I would know I have studied many science textbooks (memorised). The book is really well written. I am studying Ayurveda and this book is a total godsend. Enjoy.

An excellent translation. Recommended to me by a University professor who teaches about Islam.

OK, I have an Arabic speaking friend who criticizes all English translations of the Koran. Because Dawood wasn't available online, as are Pickthal, Shakir, and others, I bought a copy, and as far as translations go, it's probably as good as you're going to get in English. Yusuf Ali is *soft* in his rendering, and you're going to need supporting books like the Tafsirs, Hadiths, and Sira to get as much understanding of Mohammad as possible. Make no mistake, Islam is Mohammad and his belief system. Know the man behind the cloak of this religion, and you'll have a far better understanding of the images coming out of Islam on a daily basis. A Koran might be a gateway, but it will not bring you to understand Mohammad's character; that will be more clearly revealed by his Sunnah.Good luck, and fasten your seatbelts; it's a very bumpy ride.

I am not an expert in Arabic, but I have read two different translations of the Koran, one by A. J. Arberry and the Penguin classic edition translated by N. J. Dawood. The Penguin edition is far superior in readability, although the basic teachings of the Koran can be recognized from either translation. Most striking to me is how disjointed and random the teachings seem to be in comparison to the Bible (with which I am far more familiar). "Love your enemies" and "Turn the other cheek" from the Bible stand in contrast to the more militaristic tone of the Koran which encourages adherents to "Make war on them [the unbelievers] until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme" (The Spoils, 8:40; see also Prohibition, 66:9). Heaven is pictured as a place of sensuous delights designed especially for men, who "shall sit with bashful, dark-eyed virgins, as chaste as the sheltered eggs of ostriches" (The Ranks, 37:48). Although women have some protection and rights in the Koran, God has made men superior to women and given men permission to "beat them" (Women, 4:34 or 4:38 in other translations). There are numerous allusions to people whose names appear also in the Bible, but always with a different slant. Abraham's significant son becomes Ishmael instead of Isaac, and Jesus is mentioned, but his relationship to God as the Son of God is denied (The Believers, 23:91). In stark contrast to the biblical emphasis on salvation by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9), the Koran teaches that salvation comes to those whose good deeds weigh heavy on the scales. Those whose deeds are light forfeit their souls and abide in Hell forever (The Believers, 23:104). In the Koran, the earth is created in two days instead of six. Revenge is acceptable. In divorce, he gets the children! Most disturbing, perhaps, are instructions on what to do with those who abandon Islam and have become disbelievers. "Do not befriend them," "Seize them and put them to death wherever you find them" (Women, 4:90). The Koran does, indeed, make for significant reading.

Bought this as a gift for someone, they like the version as it was cost efficient and gave them the information they needed.

Koran is the book that I read the most and I love it because it contains the knowledge that we need in our lives. This book is not only a history but it contains the knowledge of mathematics, astrology, geology, science and technology. Of course the English version has twisted of some words and meanings but the Arabic version has not touched (changed) yet. I strongly recommend this book for both Muslims and non-Muslims who likes to know about the Ibrahim's religion. There more verses in the Koran about Jesus, Mosses, Merry and other prophets than prophet Muhammad (pbh).So its only about Muslims but it covers the entire humanity and the universe. The Koran is good for students who study comparative religions and also for scientist who want to discover new things. As a student I enjoyed reading it because it is very simple to understand and yet there is so much in it to know about.This book is amazing and the retailer ships fast product very fast. I'll caveat this review by saying that I am reviewing it as a textbook. If you are taking a Cost or Pricing class and on the fence about buying this book I would recommend it. Mr. Oyer does a pretty good job of taking a very complicated topic and making it understandable (for the most part). There are some places where more information would be helpful and though not the author's fault, the subject matter gets pretty dry. I really like the injection of case law which demonstrates the practical application of these concepts.

I had to buy this for my Government Contracts Cost & Pricing class. It's definitely not meant to law students or lawyers, as the title clearly indicates. So that wasn't a shock. There aren't many in text citations to the FAR or CAS, so that made it difficult to use to follow in class. But it provided a decent plain-language summary before delving into the FAR. For class, I would read the chapter on whatever topic we would discuss ahead of time, and that made reading the regulations a little easier. For a government contractor who needs to know the basics very quickly, I guess it would be a good place to start. But if you are a law student and need this for class, a *much* better source of information would be Karen Manos' treatise - available on Westlaw. She's great at providing a plain-language explanation of C&P topics.

The book will help but there's no replacement for face-to-face training.
