Almost a little too silly for my likes. Having an interest in the genre, and being a fan of most Osprey publications I felt it was worth the cost, but not one I found myself wanting to read from cover to cover. I would have enjoyed it more had they kept it to a specific period rather than trying to cover all of the history of the United Sates, or so it seemed. Personally I think WWI or WWII only would have made it a much better booklet.
Love this book. It is very fun and fluffy and a perfect companion for any pen and paper RPG or even miniatures based RPG games.This book will be a staple in my future game writing plots for the foreseeable future.
Ken Hite, Lovecraft, American History, it's a perfect intersection. My only issue is that he's so good at connecting dots I can't find the line between history and fiction, which makes me go do more research. It's hard to fault a book for inspiring more reading.
I have been reading books by the Osprey line for just under 40 years. I don't think I have ever quite enjoyed one so utterly. Giving H.P. Lovecrafts macabre pantheon the "Osprey" treatment was genius.
Excellent little book about the fictional battles between the US government and the forces of the Cthulhu Mythos. The artwork was very good, although I would have liked to see more. Still and all though, for a 75 page Osprey pub, it is very good value for the money. Highly recommended.
A little strained, but what Cthulhu isn't? Fun little overview though and useful for campaigns, especially if you want to introduce a bit of horror to the setting.
Another interesting alternate history read. Good inspiration for Wargamers and RPG Gamemasters who want to involve Cthulhu mythos into their eras.
