About the Author
Now Executive Director of the New England Air Museum, Jerry Roberts’ 30-year career as an exhibit designer, writer, documentarian, and museum executive has earned him a reputation as a storyteller able to engage the public in dynamic accounts of historical events and places with a very modern sensibility. He has served as Vice President in charge of Exhibits at the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum in New York City, Executive Director of Connecticut River Museum in Essex CT, and Battlefield Historian for the British Raid on Essex Project. He has designed and built over forty exhibits, has written or co-written several books and documentaries and has published dozens of newspaper and magazine articles. Roberts is an avid sailor and merchant marine master and has navigated the eastern seaboard in small boats and historic vessels from The Gulf Coast to Nova Scotia. He lives overlooking the Connecticut River with his wife and two children. When not flying wide body passenger jets around the globe for one of the worlds largest airlines, Captain Tom Walsh, a United States Marine Corps veteran, explores Americas landscape and waterways in his own small aircraft. His company, Shoreline Aerial Photography (www.shoreline-aerial.com) is commissioned by major corporations, government agencies, and individuals to document large scale construction projects, keep tabs on urbanization, and capture breathtaking views of private homes, vessels, and majestic scenes all over the country. He flies out of both Connecticut and Florida. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children.

Speaking as someone who loves history and enjoys well done photography, “The Connecticut River from the Air†is a delight to read and own. After visiting family in Connecticut I received a copy as a gift and I was so impressed with it that I then purchased another as a gift for my CT friend. It’s a wonderful book to browse the beautiful aerial photography and then to read nuggets of history from every switchback, town and bridge as the river winds it’s way from humble beginnings near the Canadian border to it’s majestic meeting with the Atlantic Ocean waters of the Long Island Sound. The author’s love of history shines clearly on every page and together with stunning photography makes this a delightful addition to any library. I highly recommend this book as a gift to yourself or for anyone!
...for anyone into the CT River. Begins at the mouth and covers all the way to the source at the 4th Connecticut Lake, just below the Canadian border. Excellent photographs and accompanying background text. Good job guys! Bought another copy as a gift...

Being from the Northwest, I hadn’t much considered the beauty and history of the Northeast, until reading The Connecticut River From the Air, by Jerry Roberts and Tom Walsh.This book is a compelling combination of pictures and text. Each page contains eagle-eye views of the Connecticut River and surrounding scenery. The images come alive with entertaining, and concise comments on river geography and history. I felt that a knowledgeable guide was leading me on a pleasant trip through territory I found newly interesting. I may actually have to stop being only an arm-chair tourist and become an in-person visitor.The Connecticut River From the Air is more than a table top beauty. It deserves to be enjoyed cover to cover traveling the way explorers did from the ocean outlet to the inland source. Very well done, a good read!
