Finding a good solid bible study can be hard, especially for women. I have read Fear and Faith by Trillia and appreciate the work that she does so I was super excited to hear about her new bible study If God is For Us (The Everlasting Truth of Our Great Salvation).This book is an absolute gem and I think it serves as a great example of what a solid bible study should be. Trillia does not feed you the answers; she uses great questions and prompts to get you to dig deeper into the text on your own and really spend time meditating on God's word and the beautiful truths contained within it. Prior to starting the study I recommend reading through the book of Romans on your own just to prepare yourself.The first week you will do an overview of the first 7 chapters of the book of Romans to give you the broad overview of the book and help set the stage for Romans 8. After this, you will spend the next 5 weeks going verse by verse over the 8th chapter of Romans. This book will leave you in awe of our God and the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. This Bible Study on one of my favorite chapters is perfect for seeing and savoring the goodness of the gospel. Trillia has designed this study in a way that gives flexibility making it great for those in busy seasons while still providing a treasure of truth to mine. I love the way she begins with an overview of the chapters leading to Romans 8 so you know the context and then walks you through the chapter at a good pace. I loved going though it alone and am now engaging in a small group with it. This study has helped remind me of the sweetness of what the work of Christ has provided for me in the gospel and has drawn me into the hope I cling to while I wait for final redemption. This study will encourage and challenge all who engage in it and you will certainly leave encouraged and worshipping the God Who is For us.
Romans Chapter 8 is one of my favorite places in all of Scripture. Trillia's ability to take deep theological truths and make them understandable and applicable is a gift to others. Studying the chapter over a a six week span, with each week comprised of sections to explore, respond and reflect allows the participant to spend time digesting the Truth. The questions she provides have been a wonderful catalyst for introspective reflection for me. I have discovered new gems and have been encouraged by the Word of God in a fresh way. Through this study I have been reminded of all that is available to me in Christ, allowing me to live with hope and confidence. Participate in this study with Trillia's guidance and you will see God's love in a beautiful way.
I'm a pretty careful critic of Bible studies in general, and I love this one. It's inductive without what may feel like a burdensome method; the commentary Mrs. Newbell writes is Christ- and Gospel-centered. My only complaint is that, for me, some of the blanks just aren't big enough to write my answers! As with most Bible studies, you'll get out what you're able to put in. If you have the time to dive deep and study slowly, it's an amazing study. If you only have 15-20 minutes a day, you'll still come away with a deeper love for the Savior, motivated by His love for you to share about Him with others. I'm so thankful Mrs. Newbell wrote this for the church (particularly we women), and am really looking forward to sharing it with my friends.
